Rohit Sharma will lead India at the Twenty20 World Cup 2024 tournament held in the Caribbean and United States of America, according to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah’s announcement at an event here on Wednesday.

At the final match of the 2023 World Cup in Ahmedabad, we captured hearts despite not winning it outright. Shah pledged after his address: “I pledge to you that in 2024, when the Twenty20 World Cup is hosted in Barbados (the location of the final), under Rohit Sharma’s guidance, we will raise India’s flag!”

Jay Shah served as chief guest at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Khanderi when it was renamed after Niranjan Shah, an influential cricket administrator. Jay Shah attended this ceremony.

Jay Shah delivered an address in front of a group of distinguished individuals, including former India captains Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble, and Arun Dhumal, chairman of the Indian Premier League.

At this event were also present Ajit Agarkar, Rahul Dravid and current head coach Rohit, Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel of India’s squad, as well as their support staff members.

Ben Stokes, captain of the England Test team, expressed his thanks to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for helping resolve Rehan Ahmed’s visa issues and stated that due to his outstanding performances so far in this series, despite these hurdles – they would play him in test three regardless.

“Waiting for Rehan to receive his visa was always going to be stressful; however, we were successful this morning in getting it through – thanks to all involved from both at the airport (who gave him his initial visa), as well as everyone from BCCI and government quickly receiving it,” stated Stokes during a pregame press conference. “All issues about him will have been handled before playing began.”

Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), officially put an end to rumours and discussions surrounding India’s captaincy dilemma for the Twenty20 World Cup on Wednesday by announcing Rohit Sharma will lead India into the West Indies tournament instead of Hardik Pandya.

Shah made this claim at an event held at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot and promised that come 2024, when the Twenty20 World Cup will take place in Barbados (final destination), under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, Indians will raise their flag high! ”

Rohit’s return to the Twenty20 International competition following his poor showing against Afghanistan has made it almost sure that Shah will lead their team. His statements indicate this fact.

Pandya has taken over Rohit’s duties for Twenty20 cricket in his absence and led India in many Twenty20 International series that followed the 2022 World Cup.

Pandya is currently receiving treatment for his ankle injury sustained during the One-Day International World Cup competition against Bangladesh last year, which he suffered during the One-Day International World Cup play against them. He aims to return to total health before this season of the Indian Premier League, in which he will lead Mumbai Indians after taking over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma.

When asked about the Twenty20 International captaincy situation, Shah was reluctant to comment, noting there was still time for decision-making.

At what reason does clarity need to be established at this juncture? While speaking at the Women’s Premier League auction, Shah noted that the Twenty20 World Cup would start in June; before that will come the Indian Premier League and series against Afghanistan.

India will compete against Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and the U.S. during the group stages of the Twenty20 World Cup 2024 tournament they are co-hosting.

U.S.A. versus Canada will face off in June’s first match, while Barbados hosts its championship event on June 29. India and Pakistan’s high-stakes rivalry is set to play out again during an episode scheduled for New York City’s Central Park on June 9.

Though India had won the inaugural championship against Pakistan in 2007, Pakistan would claim their trophy again in 2009.
